WHAT IS THE
"WIN SYNDICATE"

The WIN Syndicate was created to provide individuals with the opportunity to invest in the bloodstock industry without having to risk spending large sums of money.

The syndicates moto: “Weight In Numbers” means exactly that. By combining multiple smaller investments and creating a much larger pot of money, the syndicate now can compete at a much higher level than if individuals were to go it alone.

WHAT IS PINHOOKING

Generally, the term is used for purchasing foals to sell as yearlings, yearlings to sell as breeze-up horses (ready for racing) or fillies to sell as in-foal mares.

SYNDICATE STRATEGY

When purchasing foals to sell as yearlings we will usually be purchasing from the Goffs November Sales in Ireland and or the Tattersalls December Foal Sales in Newmarket (both held in November of the year the foal is born). Most foals are aged 7-10 months when purchased and are sold in the Yearling sales approximately 10 months later. We may also look at buying at other European breeding stock sales if an opportunity arises for a value for money purchase.

When selecting foals to pinhook we aim to visualise what that foal will look like as a yearling and who will be there to purchase it. Athleticism, conformation, pedigree, sex, date of birth, future sale target and yearling sales results are all aspects which we will consider prior to purchase. As with all pinhooking the key ingredient is ‘price’. We don’t want to overpay otherwise our profit is gone but we also don’t want to purchase a foal and then have no-one look at it as a yearling or struggle to get it into a suitable sale.

INVESTORS

As well as consisting of passive investors the syndicate also involves experts in the field of pinhooking. Having these experts involved with a vested interest in the syndicate will further the groups chances of success.

WHY INVEST IN A SYNDICATE

Buying foals to sell as yearlings is like buying stocks on the stock market. There is always a risk of your investment going down. To increase our chances of making a profit we need to invest in animals with good bloodlines and these bloodlines are not available at the lower end of the market. A syndicate allows us all to be involved without any one individual having to fork out a large sum of money.  Purchasing 3 to 4 foals also spreads our chances of success. If for example one of our foals does not reach our breakeven estimate, we always have another 2 or 3 foals which may overachieve their targets.

COMMUNICATIONS

It is very important for the prolonged success and future growth of this syndicate that each investor is regularly informed of how the process is progressing. We communicate regularly with our members through our WhatsApp group and this website. Providing videos and pictures of the horses as well as organised visits to view them on the farm. Regular photographs and pedigree updates are also be communicated during the year.

SYNDICATE TERM

Each foal Pin Hooking term starts in November as this is the time of year that foals are sold at the major auctions. The term ends when all horses have been sold which we expect within 12 months of the horses being purchased. Syndicate members may then withdraw their profits or their entire share amount. The Syndicate membership will then be open to existing members to add to their shareholding and/or new members to join.
